POST-MORTEM: Lolita Mancheno-Smoak’s “Palinesque Fiasco of an Interview”

In a recent interview on the Kojo Nnamdi Show, Lolita Mancheno-Smoak admitted she would vote to defund Planned Parenthood, revealed she didn’t know what Medicaid was, and lied about a Tweet in which she called Donald Trump her “ideal candidate.”

Mancheno-Smoak is the GOP's nominee in the 42nd House District, a Fairfax County seat being vacated by retiring Republican Dave Albo.
Mancheno-Smoak incorrectly referred to Medicaid as a program whose purpose was to cover “the children and the elderly,” despite the fact that Medicaid is not specifically intended for children and the elderly.
In addition, when questioned by a listener about a tweet in which she proclaimed that Donald Trump was “her ideal candidate,” Mancheno-Smoak said, “it wasn’t a tweet.” The tweet in question is still live on her Twitter.
The only clear answer Mancheno-Smoak offered was in response to a listener’s question about whether she would vote to defund Planned Parenthood. Mancheno-Smoak answered, “At this point, I would have to say that, yes.”
Take a look at some of the highlights from Mancheno-Smoak’s interview, which Blue Virginia’s Lowell Feld dubbed a “Palinesque Fiasco,” here.
