(Richmond) – House Democratic Leader Eileen Filler-Corn and Caucus Chair Charniele Herring released a joint statement following Governor Ralph Northam’s 2019 State of the Commonwealth address.
“It is clear that the Commonwealth is coming into 2019 in a strong position. Our economy is thriving, we are attracting major businesses and job creators like Amazon, and the Medicaid expansion we passed last year will boost state revenues and provide hundreds of thousands of Virginians with access to healthcare.
“But, as Governor Northam noted, all of these strengths mean that we need to take this opportunity to invest in critical initiatives, from higher salaries for teachers to more school counselors, from making our tax code fairer for all Virginians to removing barriers to voting. We thank Governor Northam for all of the progress he has made over past year and for his continued leadership.”
